New year = new guitar teacher

Yesterday, I had a guitar lesson with a new teacher. I decided after my last trip to the local music shop that I'd try to find a better teacher, and I did.

Every time I went for a lesson, my "teachers" were drunk or "on" something, and they weren't coming through with some of the promises they made me. So, I took my business elsewhere. I'm glad I did.

I'm able to take lessons on Saturdays and my teacher is a working musician (NY and Philly) that also really likes to teach. The new place I go to also has private lesson studios. The first place gave lessons right in the store area or up in a really nasty office on the second floor (where I saw the evidence of substances I did not want to be associated with).

Also, I now have a really nice case for my baby, some real freakin' picks (pink!), and a book, so I can learn to read music. I even remembered "Every good boy does fine" from fourth grade. HA! My teacher was impressed. ;P He gave me hand exercises to do on the guitar, taught me which notes get what beats, and showed me how to use my digital tuner. I'd say that was a very productive 1/2 hour. Same price as the other guys, too.

Buster checks out the new case.

Buster says, "Dude, youse knows I like to strum the guitar with my paw. Why youse takin' my axe away?"

Can I come by and smash it on the wall, a la Bluto in Animal House?

Ummm, sure. Just prepared for a reaction similar to THIS.

Cool guitar! I can't make out what it is though?? Gibson, Johnson??

Ovation electric acoustic. It was rebuilt and I have to get a battery, amp, and cord...then I could be electric. Right now, I just want to concentrate on learning how to play it.

Wyatt; Dude; Just don't touch her Baby. Beside that cat would probably whoop up on you if you got too near Baby.

I am glad for your new teacher and new place. The Unusual substances are bad to even be near. Police never ever buy the statement "It's not mine".

The Case is nice and Buster is adorable too.

He's my attack kitty! Ok, so he'd love someone to death.

I had the thought of having to explain that the cut up bic pen tubes were not mine. I know what they're used for and I'm sure residue would be found. Well, that and the guy saying that a certain substance was his weight loss program. Yeah. See ya, dude.

My new teacher was awake and alert (and sober). :)

The case is really nice. The material inside is so soft and the case is made for that type of guitar, so it is a really nice fit.

Having a good hard case is very important and Ovation cases are really good - also toting the extra weight will help with your exercise regime :)

It was on sale, too! It is an Ovation case...very nice. Yeah, it is really heavy! I'll have to military press it.

Yes, I know what that is. I used to lift weights back in the day.

Thanks. I hope I become good enough to be able to just sit down and play. This is more for stress and enjoyment. No grand schemes. ;)

At least the guitar doesn't sound like a dying cat, to the cat that is. How does buster handle the saxophone?

Well, I don't play saxophone, so I couldn't tell you. However, whenever I have him in the car to go to the vet, I have to put on classical music. He gets really anxious and meows a lot when I have other music playing in the car. He's been that way since he was a kitten. He is very intrigued by the guitar, though.
