1. Three days straight I found someplace to go to walk for a half an hour. Yesterday, I walked for about 45 minutes. I tried to walk at a decent pace, too.
2. My walks made me explore the stores I frequent. I ended up finding some items to share with my weight loss buddies and anyone else who might be interested:
- Orange Roughy is an amazingly flavorful fish! I bought Wegman's wild orange roughy. A bit expensive, but considering what I had been spending my money on, before...it is a good trade-off. I also found a pomegranate fruit juice blend at Wegman's. It tastes good, but best of all, it doesn't contain corn syrup. Corn syrup is the rattlesnake venom of our food.
- I found some pita chips, without a lot of crap added. They are 140 calories per 10 chip serving, and the chips aren't itty bitty, either. They are really low in fat and in sugars. (Check those labels!)
- I also found some chicken meatballs that don't contain a bunch of chemicals that will mess with my blood pressure (which is good) and blood sugar. I will probably make them with some spaghetti squash. While it is an acquired taste, it is a healthy choice. **I bought the pita chips and chicken meatballs at Costco.
- I have made the healthy additions of adding olive-oil vinaigrette and shredded beets to my salads.
I hope everyone else has experienced a little success this week. Maybe next week I can report two or more pounds of weight loss.
My goals for this week:
1. Find a gym that makes me feel comfortable. Curves is out. Their hours of operation don't jive with my hours of operation. (HA!)
2. Eat better at breakfast. Getting back into the school groove made me eat what was around. Not the most healthy choices were made.
3. Realize that my cravings might be sugar-based and to treat those cravings like the plague.
Have a great week, y'all!
Something I forgot to mention: High Fructose Corn Syrup, as I said, is really bad. There are foods without it. I once found hamburger buns, hot dog buns, and bread without it at Whole Foods (in their bakery area--can't remember the name). The quality was good. For other options, CLICK HERE or do some Google searches of corn syrup free foods. It is an especially good idea to avoid HFCS if you have blood sugar issues. (I'm drinking a soda right now, so do as I say, not as I do....HA!)

Great job this week, RT! Keep up the good work. Continued success next week. We are going to kick the men's butts!
Thanks for the tips, I was hoping everyone would share some. If you are looking for recipes and tips, try hungrygirl.com. I subscribe to their emails, they send me food tips and recipes, etc. A leader at Weight Watcher's recommended it.
Thanks. Good luck to you, too. :)
I really didn't think I'd lose any weight the first three days, so I'm happy.
You rock! I lost exactly NO pounds. God damnit.
Yay!!!!! keep up the great work! One is a start!
Wyatt:
Watch, I won't lose anything next week. ;)

It's certainly better than going upward. HA!
That wasn't very nice what you said there about at least you didnt go upward!! now I am hurt!! HA, anyways,
Great job girl!! Keep up the good work
You are out of the gate and on your way. Congrats.
Thanks for the update on High Fructose Corn Syrup. I would not have thought to avoid that ingredient. I'm printing your linked list and taking it with me to the grocery store later today.
Admiral:
I figure the more "good" days I get under my belt the less of an impact a bad day here and there will have on the overall goal.
Mrs. G:
Yeah, it is nasty stuff and I don't think a lot of people know it. My endocrinologist has warned against eating or drinking foods/beverages with HFCS in it. Just think how concentrated of a grain it is on top of being a modified version of the food. Not good.
My big thing for the changes I'm making is to avoid it and high sodium foods at all costs (and up the fish intake for the good fats).
Congrats, you rock indeed!!
