Blame the crazy, disgruntled beyotch!

Blame the crazy, disgruntled beyotch!

So, all of the craziness brought upon British teacher, Gillian Gibbons is because of a former secretary of the school where Gibbons taught.

Apparently the former employee, "Sarah Khawad was fired as the school's secretary in November after an employment spat and threatened to shut down the school." Khawad thought she'd do so by bringing "attention to teddy bear incident to shut Khartoum school down."

She "alerted Sudanese officials that a British teacher had allowed her class to name a teddy bear 'Mohammed,' a British source and Sudanese presidential palace source told Time magazine's Sam Dealey."

"The sources said Khawad did not appear to have a vendetta against Gibbons, but hoped that by bringing the teddy bear incident to the education minister's attention, he would close down the school for anti-Islamic teachings. The private school was shut down after the controversy came to light last week. It is unclear if it will reopen."

This just makes me say WTF!!!!!

Yeah, come teach in a country where you can impact little kids, get arrested for allowing a student to name a teddy bear after himself, and then almost get murdered/lashed/held in a nasty jail.

Hate to disagree RT, but the woman didn't learn Islamic law, so she got the penalty... Regardless of how it came to be, she was an immigrant and is lucky she 'only' got kicked out of the country.

People don't realize there is NO separation of chuch and state in the Islamic world, the church IS the state. There is NO freedom of speech, right to counsel, any of the things we hold dear.

just goes to show, you can't save, liberate, or educate people who don't want to be saved, liberated, or educated.

Its a flippin teddy bear for Allah's sake, lighten up people. They want to burn this broad at the stake for it, but they'd probably have no problem with the local imam giving the kids "JIhad Joe"'s (with kung-fu grip, naturally) to play with.

Feel free to disagree. I've just found that when people suddenly point fingers, it is usually out of convenience for their own motivations, not necessarily out of any true conviction.

Vinnie:
Agreed.

Oh I don't disagree with the sentiment, but people here do not realize how little freedom many people in Islamic countries (and Soviet States) really have. In all honesty, she is probably LUCKY she was a Brit. If she had been Muslim, she would be dead now and no one would ever know outside of those in the local gov't who did it.

True. I have many students from those types of socities (or students who have parents from those societies). I hear a lot of stories.

That should be societies.
