I read this and wanted to just say, "Archbishop Williams, you are an ass!"Dr Rowan Williams told Radio 4's World at One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.
Dr Williams argues that adopting parts of Islamic Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion. For example, Muslims could choose to have marital disputes or financial matters dealt with in a Sharia court.
He says Muslims should not have to choose between "the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty".
I'm too tired to form any real thought that would properly and adequately communicate my utter disgust with this line of thinking or any line of thinking close to it. All I have to say to him is, "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's." He does read the Bible, right?

This has generated a shit storm in the media over here.
The weird thing is sharia courts already practice here with the proviso that UK law is the final arbiter - so I am very confused as to what the bish' was trying to do.
It's all just madness.
