What to do?

In about 60 + days, I will be 39. YIKES!

I've been thinking of doing something fun. I was going to go to Virginia, to a town I passed by on my way to Nashville. It has a theater modeled after the Globe in England. It has some nice places to stay; however, I'm not sure I want to drive five or six hours after work. That is probably a trip best planned for the summer.

Then I found something I would enjoy doing in Bucks County, PA...just outside of Philly, but I cannot find a place to stay for the weekend. I did find one bed and breakfast about five or so miles away, but it would have cost almost $500 for two nights. Damn. That's fine if I'm "enjoying" the room, but if I'm just looking at the television...no way.

So, I never really do anything but go out to dinner with my best friend for my birthday. Since she no longer lives here, I am kind of lost for ideas.

Got any?

A friend of mine gives herself a Spa day for her birthday... FWIW, she always comes back smiling...

Congrats or condolences, whichever fits. I hit the half century mark this year so you won't get much sympathy from me.

If you like nature, one thing I could suggest is Bushkill Falls in the Poconos. Neither of us are in great shape, and it kicked my ass, but I had a walking stick which helped. But we did the longest trail there and saw everything. It was fabulous and we felt great when we were done. If you do the whole park it takes a few hours. We stayed at a place called Fernwood Resort, that was OK and relatively reasonable and only a few minutes from the Falls. I don't know where you live - what did you find in Bucks County?

Vinnie's got the right idea. Come to our hockey game, and we'll buy you a chocolate cake . . . shot. Mmm . . . chocolaty goodness!

Make ya a deal, I'll take yours if you take mine.

I was going to suggest that Wyatt takes you out on a ride along but that sounds way too dangerous!

Maybe you could persuade him to buy you a cheesesteak?

Old NFO:
That sounds nice. I love pedicures. I'm getting a special one hour long pedicure next weekend. I can't wait!

Rodney:
I'm not fretting the birthday. I just want something fun to do. I'm lacking in the fun department lately. I also hate when my birthday just seems like another day. It happens to fall on a Saturday this year.

Mrs. G:
I don't know if I want to go walking in the woods all by myself. I mean, the Big Bad Wolf might be out there; on second thought, I might just do it. Heh. I did look at cabins one year up around the Poconos. But, it would have been kind of boring by myself.

I thought a trip to Peddlers' Village for the Christmas festival thingy would be nice and then they have a murder mystery dinner theater thing. It all sounds kind of cheesy, but it seemed like something to do for the day. I wanted to stay the weekend because I don't want to be here and because where I teach is really close to Scudder's Falls/Lambertville/New Hope/Bucks County.

Vinnie:
Well, I'd have fun heckling you guys! :) I've been known to ask the refs at Flyers games if they want to borrow my glasses (if I'm wearing them and not my contacts, of course, because that would just be dumb).

Wyatt:
I have to be someplace where I'm not going to drive to drink. Got it? I still think that kind of shot will make me gag.

The problem is, if I came out to a game you'd all fall over from fright and you'd lose.

Skul:
Ummmm....huh?

DBA:
A ride along in Philly? I guess I know where I'd be spending the weekend, then--in the hospital nursing wounds.

Would I get to do some frisking and stuff?

I've had plenty of cheesesteaks. I don't really eat them any more. Yes, that is heresy in these parts. I like them, I'm just into eating them much.

Well, if you decide to do anything in Bucks or Montgomery County and want some company, let me know. We go to Peddler's Village every couple of months. But we are relatively close by, in the Willow Grove vicinity. So I'd be happy to take you out to lunch or dinner for your birthday. PS - I'm not a psycho or weirdo. Just sayin'.
