POW! ZAM! BONK!

You find some things you don't expect to find when you can't sleep and you are up all night, online. I saw an article about favorite superheroes. Then I saw a link to the postal service...they have D.C. Comics superheroes stamps!

Then I thought about my favorite cartoons. Yes...I loved the "legion," (You know, the one with the Wonder Twins...) and Scooby, Road Runner, Josie and the Pussycats (rockin'), Jetsons, and Bugs. But for obscurity's sake, I really miss Ultra-Man and Hong Kong Phooey. My favorite live-action: Sigmund the Sea Monster, and the Banana Splits (mainly because they were rockers...it started at an early age with Paul Revere and the Raiders...it is a sad tale). Yeah, I watched the Hudson Bros. "Long hair and music," what can I say?

So what were your favorites?

I watched all the shows you mentioned. Except Ultraman, never heard of him. I also liked Johnny Quest, Whacky Races, and The Pink Panther. I used to watch a show called HR Pufnstuff when I was like 5 or 6. My Saturday TV ritual always ended with Monster Movie Matinee, a local show that featured classic horror movies.

JD: I don't know where you were raised, but in the Philly area we had something called "Creature Double Feature." It was hosted by a creepy guy. I used to watch it with my grandmother. My favorite movies were the Vincene Price movies, especially Fall of the House of Usher.

Hey, I seemed to have come up with a new way to spell Vincent. Cool!

rt,
Creature Double Feature sounds similar to Monster Movie Matinee. I grew up in Syracuse, NY. MMM had a creepy host, too. Two of them actually. I saw all my earliest horror and sci-fi movies there. Sometimes I really miss those days.

I can't remember but I think the WWF used to come on before the movies. I remember when Hulk Hogan was a bad guy. I miss all that, too. The ultimate wars were between Piper and Snooka (sp?).

Heh, Rowdy Roddy Piper. Hot Rod.

Don't ask how I know that.

Rachel,
I'm Scottish, so I would always root for him EXCEPT when he was wrestling Superfly Snooka. Again....the long hair on men thing. I don't know what it is. Anyway, Superfly used to live near me, too. Actually, I think it was either King Kong Bundy or George the Animal Steele that lived in the very apartment complex I live in right now. WOW!!! The information we retain. Now, if I could only remember wear I put my car keys. :)

Roddy Piper rocks! He had one of my favorite movie lines of all time, in John Carpenter's They Live:

"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum."

JD: I loved that movie!!! He was pretty decent in it. I miss Piper's Pit.

Wasn't it in Piper's Pit where the most famous wrestling slogan ever was spit out?

"Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!"

From one of my all time favorites to one of my all time favorites.

Sad about Austin's fall from good health and grace.
