TAKING REQUESTS

Ok. This could be really, really dangerous. I am going to take requests. What topics would you like to see me cover? I will try to cover each one you all provide.

My marking period just ended, so I am finishing grades, essays, quizzes, planning, copying, dealing with much apathy. My ability to come up with posts is lacking.

This is not really a Q & A, but if your topic takes the form of a question, that is okay with me. :)

I will create posts based on your ideas and requests beginning tomorrow night. I will stop taking requests Monday.

I hope this does not hurt. I am skeeeerd.

**Please note: Keep your ideas coming! I will start posting based on the ideas beginning Monday. I'm too tired to think. Grades are due Monday, so I'll be in a better frame of mind. Any head-butting is up to you. ;P This is meant to be fun or serious...up to you guys. They're your ideas.

What is the fine line between "turn the other cheek" and making one's self a target?

To be honest, I rather like the way you've been doing things. I like PP because it's more a conversation than a head-butting contest. We have fun, we needle each other, nobody freaks out. Those of us that frequent your site, and others, know that we get a bit silly. That is the enjoyment of PP. I like you just the way you are.

Rachel...I will address your topic sometime tonight. I like it, as I have had doormat written on my forehead for many years, or at least it has felt that way. Great topic idea.

Don't worry, Skul, I can't do anything without humor.

I'm not trying to change my blog. I like the humor of it all and that it is not super serious. I was just asking for topics because I can't really think of any right now because of my workload. I thought it would interesting, fun, and scary to see what you all would "request."

No..."Freebird" and "Stairway to Heaven" are not feasible requests. :P

Btw, thank you for the kind words.

A rundown of your favorite tv shows or movies.

Rachel's question is good.

Rachel, you are aware that "turn the other cheek" is about defiance, not submission, right. What it means is to respond to someone taking shots at you with, "you want some? The next shot is free, after that... It's on!"

Or as Dirty Harry would say, "Go ahead. Make my day."

It has exactly zero to do with taking abuse in stride.

RT, can we have a head-butting competition, like a literal one. Pretty please :)

Fiar! You just want to lack civility. As "owner" of this blog I demand that you be civil toward others!

So, headbutt, this! Grrrrr!

I think Rachel might be talking the Biblical sense of "turning the other cheek," which does mean taking the "hits" but all the while knowing "they" will get theirs someday....but I need to turn this into a post.

You can have your own head-butting contest...stick your head up your butt! HA!

Yeah, when I was taught the "turn the other cheek" thing, it was more of what RT said. I've never been one for extracting my own revenge, since it seems to come around in its own time.

"Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord" Rom 12:19

Yeah, raised Catholic.

There was a great line in a S. King book too relating to the famous phrase, "Mess with me once, shame on me, etc..." (Phrased in a family friendly nature out of respect to RT.)

Is the "tipping point" the second time? Do you give leeway for someone having an absolutely horrible day? When are you playing the martyr? When are you a doormat?

I'm more worried about when you give license to someone to "kick you around" again. I can never seem to find the warning signs and know when to get the heck out.

One thing does come to mind. You have an educational background. Without making yourself a target as Rachel mentioned, can our current system be discussed?
Maybe another thought. What causes inspiration for you. What makes the big question mark turn on?
Remember, life is a jalopeno(sp) pepper.

Rachel:
Whoa! Rachel quoted a Bible verse by book, chapter and verse! Somebody take the temperature in hell, please, because surely it must be freezing! HA!

Family friendly? Yeah. Since when is the discussion on something like K-Y Jelly family friendly...well the way the comments turned out?

I promise to do a post on this tomorrow. I graded a class set of really, really bad essays. I'm beat. I'm hibernating this weekend, so I'll be able to do the posts. :)

I've got a few ideas for that post, too.

Skul:
Nothing is off limits. If I don't feel comfortable about something, I'll just say as much.

These are good ideas. :) Thanks, guys.

What makes you sit up and take notice? What makes you think "Wow"??
You've tasked your readers with a mighty hard problem.

You, on the other hand, have been tasked to teach my grand-kids values that are useful in their lives.

I find it very hard to make suggestions as to the content of your blog.

I was gonna say more but the wife just wandered out and was telling me difference between flying squirrel calls and tree frog calls.
Yes, she was making the noises. My train of thought has been de-railed and is laying in the ditch.

I'll resume addressing the requests in a day or two.
