Thanks for rubbin' it in... I guess that's what I get for rooting for a team run by Steinbrenner!
...just for the record, I was a fan when I was listening to the team on the only AM station in upstate NY that my transistor radio could tune in when oriented just so... I knew nothing of the Steinbrenner madness then, only of how fantastic it would be to play along side the most famous mullet in baseball history... Donny Baseball! --Don Mattingly!
Don't worry, Jeter will pull them through this one...
I used to sit on the front porch with my grandmom and listen to Phillies games on her transister radio. It even had a black leather cover/case.
A neighbor across the street had a booming voice and he would sit on his porch, too...he was the "other" play-by-play guy. It was great. I can smell the fresh-cut grass and see the fire-flies now. That grandmom died a year ago the 10th...she was 91.
Hey, I had that same black leather casing too! It would lessen the blow my radio made when it would fall from the tie-wire harness attached to the bunk above me and land on my forehead...

God bless the legacy she left...

...I miss fire-flies...
I also miss going to the little league games and getting foul balls for free snow cones....and playing run-the-bases.
