Happy Birthday, Mommy!

Yesterday was my mom's 63rd birthday. While she has been through a lot of hard times in her life, she has always found a way to keep God as her focus. She's experienced a bad marriage that she left (thank God), a very deadly form of cancer, non-cancer health problems, a child who drove her crazy, and a mother who would have made Hitler cry (almost drove me to a breakdown). Despite all of it, my mom managed to not give up hope of better things for herself or for me.

Because of my mom and her faith, I have been raised in a Christian home. Even though it took until I was in my early 20s, and while I maintain my rough edges and potty mouth as I go through my late 30s, I do know to whom I belong and to whom I have given my life. Without God blessing me with my mother (all of our issues included), I never would have had the faith I now have. I hope God has huge blessings for my mom in the future...she deserves them!

How can you not love a mom who can identify the Metallica and Motley Crue songs during hockey game stoppages?

Happy Birthday to your mom. She sounds like an awesome lady. Lord knows we all have our rough edges :)

Mine are quite jagged. Don't know...sounds like a song, Wreckse.

She is awesome, and I wish she believed in herself to see it. I think I'm supposed to learn from her life.
